On October 12, 1930, Heaven loaned Earth an angel who would forever change the world by her gentle, loving, and caring spirit.
Yvonne Jennings Johnson was born to the late Estes Jennings, Sr., and Mariah Willola Pruitt Jennings in Buffalo, South Carolina. Yvonne was the fifth child out of 14 siblings.
After accepting Christ at an early age, growing up in the church at St. Luke Baptist Church in Buffalo, South Carolina.
Yvonne graduated from Sims High School. She was employed at Union Dry Cleaners. After leaving the cleaners she went to work for the Farwell family. In 1952, Yvonne left Buffalo, South Carolina and moved to Florida with the Farwells where she continued to work for the Farwell family until the mid-2000’s.
Shortly after arriving in Florida, she met her soulmate, the love of her life, the late Major Johnson, who captured her heart. They were joined in holy matrimony on December 10, 1962. They reared Constance Johnson as their own daughter.
She joined Springfield Baptist Church in 1978, under the leadership of Reverend Isom Ross. Also, under the leadership of Calvin Ray Hart, Sr. Yvonne loved the Lord. Her service to the Lord was impeccable and included Bible Study and Sunday School attendance. She served dutifully on the Usher Board, but her first love was singing in the choir until she grew weak in old age. Yvonne was a dedicated prayer warrior. Yvonne’s life enjoyments, outside of serving the Lord, included spending time with her family and watching Family Feud. Yvonne had a special love for everyone; she just had that caring spirit every day. It gleams in her smile; you could always get that smile from her because she always welcomed and was glad to see whoever came in her presence.
On Friday, September 15, 2023, at 7:53pm, God called Yvonne’s name and she answered. He gently closed her loving eyes and whispered peace be thine. To many many friends and loved ones I leave with you Jesus. For wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. She will be remembered for her warm personality and sincere smile.
