Willie Augusta "Pop" Wilson

Willie Augusta "Pop" Wilson, 92, of Union, SC, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, in Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. A native of Union, SC, he was the widower of El Willie Gentry Wilson and the son of both the late Luther Wilson and Alma Wright Wilson. He was educated in Union County Public School System. He was a former employee of Lockhart Power Company as a lineman.

In addition to his wife and parents, Willie is preceded in death by one son, Jay Hughes; two daughters, El Ruby Cohen, and Joella Spencer; granddaughter, Michelle Cohen. He was the last of his siblings, four brothers; Frank Wilson, Alonso Wilson, Thomas Wilson, and Arzola Wilson; and one sister, Mary Alice Jeter.

Willie leaves precious memories to three sons; Morris Ray Simpson, Brinston “Tony” Wilson, and Lawrence (Pearline) Wilson; three daughters, Martha (John Rufus) Walton, Janice (Eugene) Spencer, and Madelyn Wilson; eighteen grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends all whom will miss him dearly.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary Inc. 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
