Willie Mae (Hughes) Thompson

Willie Mae Hughes Thompson, 83, of Jonesville, SC  passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 1, 2020 at her residence.  A native of Union County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Monroe Hughes and the late Mary Rice Hughes, and the widow of Leo Thompson, Sr. In her early years, Mrs. Thompson attended Union County public schools. She was a homemaker and a member of Wyatt's Chapel Baptist Church of Buffalo, SC. In addition to her parents,  she was preceded in death by one son, Leo “June” Th0mpson Jr., one daughter, Martha Ann Browning, five sisters, Pearline Johnson, Ruth Sims, Doris Gean Walker, Sara Smith, and Mattie Lee Smith, one brother, Roosevelt “Sonny” Hughes. She leaves precious memories to two sons, Terry (Linda) Thompson and Harold Dean Thompson; four daughters, Ruth (Melvin) Jeter, Shirley (Lonnie) Mobley, Janet Epps, and Rebecca (Travelis) Brown; one sister, Mary Lee Davis; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren along with a host of other loving relatives and friends. Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
