Terry Roosevelt Dawkins, Sr. was born in Spartanburg, SC, on Thursday, November 20, 1958. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at his home. He was the husband of Annie Mae Martin Dawkins and son of the late Fred Dawkins, Sr., and Mamie Ruth Burgess Dawkins.
Terry, Sr. was a graduate of Spartanburg High School. He was affectionately known to many as “Tobe.” He worked for many years as a bail bondsman with TR Dawkins Bail Bonding Company. “Tobe” enjoyed rabbit hunting, fishing, and going to the casino. He also enjoyed watching football, tennis, and western movies. He was a former member of Maxwell Chapel in Spartanburg, SC.
In addition to his parents, Terry, Sr. was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter Burgess, Alvin Burgess, Donald Burgess, and Franklin Burgess; two sisters, Delois Fant, and Zora Maxwell.
He leaves precious and fond memories with his devoted wife of forty-three years, Annie Mae Dawkins; son, Terry Roosevelt Dawkins, Jr. (Jessica); daughter, LaKeisha Anne Byers; three grandchildren, Tamyus Dawkins, Kenshuwn Goode, and Stephan Gilliam; three great-grandchildren, Jaking Goode, Dallas Goode, and KJ Goode; one brother, Fred Dawkins, Jr.; five sisters, Mamie Dawkins, Kathy Bell, Diane Dawkins, Joyce (Gennie) Rogers, and Seena Rookard; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, co-workers, neighbors, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Arrangements are entrusted with Community Mortuary, Inc., 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.
