Shirley Lucille (Goode) Wilkes

Shirley Lucille Goode Wilkes was born on June 24, 1938, to Ager Goode and Essie Foster Goode. She was united in holy matrimony to Joe Louis Wilkes of Union, SC. Shirley was educated in Union County Public Schools. She was gainfully employed at Marriott- Spartanburg, SC. She was a faithful member of Mount Rowell Baptist Church. Fishing was one of her favorite past times. She answered the Masters call on March 25, 2025, and entered eternal rest.

Shirley was preceded in death by one son, Nathaniel Smith; three great grandchildren, Zechariah Smith, Braylen Smith and Sanaiya Smith; nine siblings; William Goode, Coleman Goode, James A. Goode, Aaron Goode, Lonnie Goode, Isabelle Glenn, Catherine Wilkes, Emma Lee Clowney, and Lillie Mae Smith.

Shirley leaves to cherish fond memories, with her husband, Joe Louis Wilkes; two sons, Sir James “Earl” (Cherry) Smith of Dallas, TX, Minister Robert Bernard (Joy Antoinette) Smith, Sr. of Whitmire, SC; one daughter, Ola Smith Eison of Chester, SC; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and many great great grandchildren; one god-son, Tommy Rodgers, of Union, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends all of whom will miss her dearly. Arrangements are with Community Mortuary Inc., 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
