Shirley Mae Lindsey Owens Epps of Union, SC entered into eternal rest on Monday afternoon, July 25, 2022, in Spartanburg Medical Center.
A native of Union County, SC, she was the wife of John D. Epps, Sr. and the daughter of the late Mary Degraphenreid Lindsey and Claude Browning and Adolphus Lindsey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Kirsten C. Owens; two brothers, Thomas Earl "June Boy" Lindsey and Travis De'Clark “DC” Lindsey; two sisters, Beatrice LindaJean "Jean" Lindsey and Robin Lindsey.
She was a member of McBeth Baptist Church. She was former president of the Missionary Board, member of several choirs, and a deaconess. She retired from Buffalo Mills where she was a roving attendant. She was a 1964 graduate of Sims High School.
She leaves precious memories to her husband, John D. Epps, Sr.; one son, Kevin F. Lindsey; two daughters, Kimberly O. (James) Crosby and Kelli L. (Derrick) Boyd; four grandchildren, Brennan J. Crosby, Kennedy B. Crosby, Jazmyne K. Boyd, and JaQuan K. Boyd; and three great-grandchildren, Ayden J. Crosby, Jayce D. Boyd, and Jayleigh D. Crosby; four brothers, Benjamin Lindsey, Jaytheron (Donna) Lindsey, Terence (Kathryn) Lindsey, and Christopher Browning; ten sisters, Rose Marie Lindsey Savage, Gervaise Anne (Eddie) Stepp, Gladys Lindsey, Sandra Lindsey Sims, Gwendolen (William) Craig, Bishop Tyra (Jerry) Parham, Shayera (Shearton) Whitfield, Karen Lindsey, Rosa Mae Glenn, Darlene Jeter, and Alison (Christopher) Williams; two godsons, Darrell Jeter and Freeman Jeter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
