Sevoy “Tasey” Jeter, husband of Brennie Thomas Jeter, was born in Union County, SC on September 18, 1952. He was the son of the late Dennis “Bully” Jeter and Mary Louise Sims Biae.
Sevoy was a 1971 graduate of Union High School. He attended Ohio State University and received an associate of arts degree from the University of South Carolina at Union. He was an accomplished artist with several pieces displayed in Union County. He was a retired owner operator truck driver from Belue Trucking. He served in the South Carolina Army National Guard for nineteen years. He was a member of New Day Baptist Church. Where he served as a member of the All-Male Choir, Welcome Committee, and the JLH Choir.
Sevoy enjoyed music and was a bass player for several bands throughout the years. He was cofounder of the FOD Band. He was a member of Pride of Spartanburg Masonic Lodge #211 Mason and Tamin Shrine Tempe #155. He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan and enjoyed “Gunsmoke” and “Family Feud.”
He leaves precious and endearing memories to his beloved wife of fifty years, Brennie Jeter; one son, Sevoy (Sharmonique) Jeter; two daughters, Demetrice Clark and Latasha Goodwin; six grandchildren, Sevoy, III, James, Isaiah, Tyler, Taylor, and Gabby; godmother, Odessa Griffin; two brothers, Dennis Jeter and Bobby Grifin: seven sisters, Shirley Booker (Isaac), Dorothy Mae Henderson, Kimberly Booker, Sheryl (Charles) Nelson, Jeannie (Alonzo) Brisbon, Hattie Ortiz, and Lucille Cardenas; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Jeter, Blanche Carter, and Gloria Davis; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sevoy peacefully passed away on Sunday morning, August 21, 2023, at the age of seventy in Spartanburg Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Rondey Scott Peake; brothers, Joe Kelley, James Sims, and Angelo Sims; sister, Carolyn Simmons; and a son-in-law, Keele Goodwin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Addie Thomas; and brother-in-law, James “Buster” Thomas.
Sevoy’s departure has left a void in the hearts of beloved family. We take comfort in the memories and the impact he made during his lifetime. He will be sorely missed by all who loved and knew him.
The family will receive friends at 327 Shady Drive, Boiling Springs, SC. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc.
