Obituary

Sarah Lee Means, 79, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away surrounded by family, on Sunday May, 7, 2023. A native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late James Russel and Illa Louise Johnson Jones. She was a 1961 graduate of Carver High School. At an early age, she joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Spartanburg. She retired from IMC Fertilizer Mill after many years of service.

Sarah was preceded in death by two brothers, James Russell Jones,Jr., George Washington Nash; and four sisters, Mary Eliza Thompson, Carrie Lee Lyles, Margaret Tanner, and Connie Gail Campbell.

She was known to have a sense of humor and could bring laughter almost anywhere at almost anytime.  The smiles and joy she brought will truly be missed by many.

Sarah leaves fond and precious memories to her daughter, Darline (Calvin) Ross; lifetime companion, Bensolo "Larry" Means; one sister, Dr. Emma J. Patton; dedicated niece, Gail Campbell; numerous nephews,  other nieces, cousins, relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc., Spartanburg, SC.
