Sarah Louise “Lute” Peake was born on September 3, 1930, to the union of Roland and Hattie Tucker in Union, South Carolina. She moved to New York in 1948 where she devoted her life to caring for others as a nursing assistant. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed time with her family and traveling the world. Her compassionate spirit was also evident in her faith as a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness. Sarah’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing strength through the years. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many.
Sarah Louise “Lute” Peake , born on September 3, 1930, in Union, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024, in Uniondale, New York, at the age of 93. She was the beloved daughter of Roland and Hattie Tucker.
In 1948, at the tender age of 18, Sarah moved to New York where she devoted her life to caring for others as a nursing assistant. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed time with her family and traveling the world.
Sarah was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness, that dedicated her life to her faith, drawing strength and solace from her unwavering belief in Jehovah. She was a pillar of her congregation, known for her kindness, humility, and the wisdom she shared with others.
Sarah was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her home was a sanctuary, always open to family and friends. Summers at her house were a cherished tradition for her grandchildren, who fondly remember the warmth, laughter, and the love that filled her home. Her kindness extended to everyone she met, and she was known for her generous heart and gentle spirit.
Sarah is survived by her loving children: Barbara Ann (Charles) Hayes of Charleston, SC, Shirley (Herbert) Taylor of Uniondale, SC, Caroline (Orson) Suber of Richmond Hill, NY and Sheenia Peake of Queens, NY, Peletha Peake and Darren Peake both of Carlisle, SC. She also leaves behind her sister Betty J. (Alvin) Nelson of Detroit, MI, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and brothers and sisters in faith.
Sarah was preceded in death by her siblings, Emmanuel Tucker, Robert Tucker and Arthur Tucker, and Deborah Jeter. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Peake and grandson Lawrence Taylor.
Sarah’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and resilience. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
