Samuel Lee “Truck” Bowser, 67, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Lexington Medical Center in Columbia, SC. A native of Union, SC, he was the husband of Donall Brown Bowser and the son of the late Dora Elizabeth Bowser Harley (Willie).
He was a 1975 graduate of Union High School. He continued his education and in 1979 graduated from Livingstone College. He also graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Sam attended Corinth Baptist Church of Union, SC and Brookland Baptist Church of West Columbia, SC. He retired from the United States Army Reserve after twenty years of dedicated service. He enjoyed an extensive career in law enforcement and retired from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. He was a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. He was a 2014 inductee to the Livingstone College Athletic Hall of Fame Football, Class of 79'.
Sam was preceded in death by one son, Shon D. Brown; maternal grandparents, John Henry Bowser and Earline Worthy Bowser; two aunts, Mae Frances Bowser and Johnnie Ruth Bowser “Sugar” Young; one uncle, Douglas Beaty; and three cousins, Ashley Louise Bowser, Anthony Bowser, and Terrie Ann Bowser Lindsay.
He leaves precious memories to his wife, Donall Brown Bowser; three daughters, Tiffani Bowser (Gary) Bowen, Monica Bowser, and Shonta Brown; four grandchildren, Ashli N. Brown, Rashaad O. Brown, Tristan K. Bowser, and Taylen J. Swindell; one sister, Michelle Harley; two aunts, Sallie Bell Bowser and Earline Bowser Beaty; two uncles, James E. Bowser and John Bowser, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc. 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
