Ruby (Tucker) Jeter

Surrounded by her children, Ruby Tucker Jeter, 95, of Union, SC, transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Ruby was the widow of John Ellis Jeter, and the daughter of the late Adus Tucker, Sr. and Sallie Ann Tucker. She was a faithful member of Thomas Chapel AME Church where she served as stewardess, missionary, usher, and choir member.

Ruby, affectionately known as Ma Ruby and Mother Ruby, touched the lives of many through demonstrating her love of God, her joy of cooking, and by giving unselfish care to others. Ruby instilled in her children, at an early age, the importance of Godly wisdom, family values, and love for others regardless of who they are or where they come from.

Ruby was preceded in death by two sons, David Jeter and John Henry Jeter; one daughter, Johnnie Ruth Jeter; one grandchild, Rhonda Jones; four brothers, Willie Tucker, Charlie Tucker, Arthur Tucker, and Adus Tucker, Jr.; five sisters, Aggie Jones, Janie Kennedy, Elvira Murray, Ida Tucker, and Sallie Mae Harrison; and one step-daughter, Myrtis Ann Threat.

Those left to cherish loving memories are three sons, William E. Jeter, Randolph Jeter, and John R. Jeter; three daughters, Ruby Mae (Lee) Stewart, Doris (Rev. James) Johnson, and Irene (Brian) Brooks; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one step-son, John B. Woodson; two brothers-in-law, Sam Harrison and W. T. Jones; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Tucker and Betty Jeter; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
