Robert Lee Jeter, son of the late Francina Gage and John Thompson, was born in Union County, SC on Friday, February 2, 1940. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
“Dickie,” as he was affectionately called by those who knew him, was a 1959 graduate of Sims High School. He was a member of Saint Luke Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Usher Board and was a Trustee.
“Dickie” enjoyed his work as a career truck driver. He retired from Milliken and Company Sycamore Plant after forty-two years of service.
“Dickie” was a member of Tamin Shrine Temple #155, Widow Son Masonic Lodge #34, J.E. Dickson Consistory #217, Holy Royal Arch #25, and Knights of Temple R E White #4.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George “Pluto” Jeter and Coot Jeter and one sister, Cora Lee Thompson Thomas.
He leaves to cherish fond memories two nieces, Brenda (Harold) Jeter and Rosalyn Thomas both of Union SC; one son, Terrence (Banina) Gentry of Spartanburg, SC; great nieces, Princess (Travis) Copeland of Spartanburg SC and great niece, Zhacora Miller of Spartanburg, SC; great-nephews, Larry (Brandy) Thomas of Greenville SC, John “J R” Thomas of Union SC, and Malik (Megan) Thomas of Union, SC; granddaughters, Audrianna “Lady Bug” and Chasity Thomas of Greenwood, SC; a special nephew, Ty “Obey” Thomas of the home; a special cousin, Lillie Ruth Rice of Wellford, SC; one nephew, George (Penny) Jeter of Union, SC; one niece, Jacqueline Cerda of FL; and a host of other family and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc., 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
