Robert Byrd

Robert Byrd, Sr., 73, of Carlisle, SC passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, in the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. A native of Union County, SC he was the husband of Willie Mae Neal Byrd and the son of the late Arthur Byrd and Pearlie Lott Byrd. He attended Sims High School and retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing Plant.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Byrd and two sisters, Joann Byrd and Willie Ruth Byrd.

He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Byrd; one son, Robert Byrd, Jr.; one daughter, Shanta Byrd; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Andrew Byrd, Lee Arthur Byrd, Monroe Byrd, and Roosevelt Sims; five sisters, Annie Byrd, Agnes (Pernell) Thompson, Martha Byrd, Mary Byrd, and Dorothy Byrd; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

The family will receive friends at 4928 English Avenue, Carlisle, SC. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary Inc. 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
