Purvis James Walker

Purvis James Walker, 77, of Wellford, SC, was born on April 6, 1948, in Spartanburg, SC. He departed this earthly life on July 28, 2025, at his home. He was the widower of Barbara Jean Anderson Walker and son of the late John Henry Walker and Mattie Williams Walker.

Purvis was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. He retired from the United States Army where he served his country honorably.  

In addition to his wife and parents, Purvis was preceded in death by two brothers, Freddie Walker, and Thomas Walker; three sisters, Letha Norton, Jonnie Ruth McNeal, and Lucille Smith.

He leaves precious and fond memories with his daughters, Anna Jones (Cornelius) Anderson, and Cynthia (Roger) Brown; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Willie (Rose) Walker; sister, Willie Ann Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
