Pauline Trapp Franklin, age 95, of Spartanburg, SC passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. The daughter of the late Gussie Jeter of Spartanburg, Pauline was predeceased by her daughter Pauline Lavaria Underwood, and her sister Minnie Lee Grant. She is survived by her granddaughter Ayanna Rune McKoy of Spartanburg, along with many other relatives and dear friends. Pauline was born on January 2, 1926, on her family’s rural farm in Newberry County. Her 95 years were packed with hard work, as well as lots of love and laughter. Pauline was a devoted servant of the Lord. She ministered to the sick and elderly, cooked and brought meals to those in need, and was always there with a prayer and a smile for whomever needed her. Regardless of the circumstances Pauline faced, her faith in God supplied her with a deep well of peace and joy.
Pauline was an angel on Earth who will live on in the memories of her granddaughter Rune, and the myriad people who were fortunate to share in the glorious journey of her life. After school Pauline began mastering the art of home healthcare and hospitality. From her early jobs in catering and food services to a career built around nurturing families, Pauline modeled the concept of Christ-like leadership through her unconditional love for others and her belief in the power of positive relationships.
Pauline’s legacy of wisdom, grace, a great sense of humor, and a heart of gratitude will be carried on by her granddaughter Rune and by the hundreds of friends who loved her, especially Sally Jeter Gregg (Scott) Sara Katherine Wade (John Thad), Matthew Hammond (Lee),Wil Hammond, Ruskin Ferguson, and Darenda Rich.
In lieu of flowers, Pauline would be honored to be remembered by gifts to Mount Moriah Baptist Church (her mother’s church) and Mobile Meals of Spartanburg. A service celebrating Pauline’s life will be held at the Spartanburg Community Mortuary at 102 Marion Avenue, on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 12:00 noon.
