Nelson Gist

Nelson Gist of Memphis, TN passed away November 5, 2021.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Dwelling Place Christian Church located at 3034 Old Austin Peay, Memphis, TN.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park South Woods,  5485 Hacks Cross Rd, Memphis, TN.  This notice is a courtesy Community Mortuary.  Arrangements are with E. H. Ford Funeral Home of Memphis TN. 

Nelson was born September 1, 1936 in Jonesville, SC.  He was the son of the late Deacon Fant and Adelle Glenn Gist.  He was a graduate of  Sims High School, Union, SC and served in US Army.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers, Fant Jr, James, Charles, Douglas, and Willie Lee Gist, one sister, Ruedean Gist Gregg, and one nephew Stacy Gist.

He leaves loving memories to four sons; Carlton (Patricia) Gist of Greenville, SC, Terrence (Helen) Gist, of Boiling Springs, SC, Brian Gist of Spartanburg, SC and Andre (Kawannis) Gist of Memphis, TN; three daughters, Carla (Rev. Percy) Jackson of Greenwood, SC,  Shelia Gist of Pacolet, SC and Nickey Gist of Memphis, TN; four sisters, Ruby Gist and Ruth Shands both of Pacolet, SC, Roberta (Less) Jones of Oxon Hill, Md, and Frances DeLois Gist of Spartanburg, SC; and  a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
