Millie Black Pinkney, 96, widow of Murray Pinkney, Jr. and daughter of the late Willie Black and Rosa Geddis Black, was born in Sumter County, SC on September 22, 1924. She entered eternal rest after a well-spent life on Saturday, October 24, 2020 in Greenville, SC. She was a life-long member of Saint Luke AME Church in Sumter, SC. She attended the public schools of Sumter County and enjoyed a career in food service. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Earl Franklin Pinkney, Willie “Pete Boss” Pinkney, and Carl Jerome Pinkney; one granddaughter, Patricia Jackson; and one sister, Helen B. Jackson. She leaves a legacy of love and service to a loving and devoted family to include her daughter and caregiver, Helen (Edward) Nixon; eight grandchildren, Terrolyn Pinkney Kissai, Teresa Nixon Campbell (Troy), Jamice Pinkney, Michelle Price, Matthew Pinkney, Taiisha Pinkney Bradley (James), Carlton Pinkney, and Lavonté Glisson; eight great-grandchildren, Zadiyah Kissai, Justice Pinkney, Joshua Campbell, Mason Pinkney, Landon Bradley, Rashaun Price, Jamarion Pinkney, and Serenity Glisson; two daughters-in-law, Windella Pinkney and Latondra Pinkney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Graveside service will be held at Saint Luke AME Church, Sumter, SC. Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.
