Mariam Ropani, born on August 07, 1981, in Marindi town, South Sudan, passed away on January 02, 2026, at her residence in Spartanburg, SC. She was the wife of Swadik Simon. She was the fifth daughter out of nine children of Ruben Luo and the late Dina Aba Hando.
Mariam Ropani was raised in Marindi town and attended school before the family fled the war to DR. Congo. After two years in DRC, the family came back to South Sudan, but the war was still going on and they fled to Uganda. While in Uganda Mrs. Mariam met her husband, Mr. Swadik Simon.
Mariam Ropani was a hard-working lady who owned different retail businesses while serving her family. She was a devoted believer affiliated with AIC Pentecostal church. She also worked as a missionary for 7 years spreading the gospel to areas of Juba, South Sudan.
In 2020, Mrs. Mariam moved to Uganda with her family fleeing the war and in 2025 she was resettled in the USA, here in Spartanburg, SC, with two of her daughters and two granddaughters, leaving the two daughters and their families back in South Sudan. Mrs. Mariam and her family have also been active members of Neema Baptist church, here in Spartanburg, SC.
Mariam Ropani and her husband were blessed with four daughters and seven grandchildren who are left to cherish precious and fond memories. Other survivors include her siblings – two brothers and three sisters, all of whom will miss her dearly.
God gave, and God has taken away. Blessed be His name. MHRIP!
