Margaret Estelle Swindler was born on August 1, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Correll and Estelle Swindler. They later moved to Inman, South Carolina, where she attended public school as much as she could until she was able to finish. A proud moment for Mother Margaret was when she graduated from Ben Bomar High School, having received her diploma (that Janet has). Even at 98, she never forgot that (her diploma is still intact). She worked on her father's farm and was later employed by the Babb Families and worked for them for years until her retirement. She helped to raise their children and was a daily part of their homes and families. She was preceded in death by her parents; along with her brothers and sisters, Ezra, Charles, Broadus, Lester, Atheree, and Annie Bell.
Mother Margaret gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She truly loved the Lord and served with her whole heart. She was a member of Greater BibleWay Church, under the leadership of Bishop Randolph and Mother Dorothy Jackson. She served faithfully unto the Lord and was a part of the missionary board, gospel/senior choirs, assisted with housekeeping of the church, and wherever else she could serve.
Mother Margaret leaves to cherish fond memories, her niece and caregiver/overseer of care, Janet Downs of Charlotte, N.C., an honorary niece, Chaquoya Blackwell of Charlotte, N.C., a brother-in-law, John Downs (Lela) of Greenville, S.C., and many nieces, and nephews, as she was a great, great, great, great auntie; along with other family, friends, and acquaintances.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc., 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.
