Mamie Lou Thomas Wilson, 87, passed away at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home in Manhattan, New York, on May 1, 2025. A native of Union, SC, she was born on November 27, 1937, to the late Perry and Bessie Gaffney Thomas. She was the baby of three children.
In her early years she joined Bethesda Baptist Church in Santuc, SC.
It would be wrong to say that Mamie lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Mamie stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Mamie. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight. She is going to be missed by so many friends and family.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ernest Wilson; one sister, Mary Lee Thomas, and one brother C.D. Thomas.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Lunette Glenn of Union, SC, Wanda Wilson and Laurann Glenn, both of New York; two sons, Jefferey Wilson and Johnathan Wilson, both of New York; nineteen grandchildren; twelve great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
