Lessie (Adams) Rice

Lessie Juanita Adams Rice, 64, of Spartanburg, SC,  passed away Thursday morning, February 4, 2021 in Spartanburg Medical Center.  A native of Union County, SC, she was wife of Robert "Duck" Rice and the daughter of the late Samuel Adams, Sr. and Eleanor  Sherard Adams.  She was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church and was retired from  Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.  She was a graduate of Union High School and received an associate degree from Spartanburg Technical College.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Ja'Derrick Fincher, a granddaughter, Ja'Liyah Fincher, and a sister, Sandra Elaine Adams.  Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one daughter, La'Janielle Jones; three grandchildren, Ja'Maryah Fincher, Ja'Kayla Brandon, and Ja'Daija Sanders; two brothers, Samuel Adams, Jr. and Winston Adams; three sisters, Francena Pressley (Lewis), Laverne Adams, and Loretta Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends at 126 Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC and at 307 Maple Street, Union, SC. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, February 11, 2021 in the chapel of Community Mortuary in Union, SC. The Reverend Dr. Benjamin D. Snoddy will officiate. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery.   Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
