Larry D. Thompson, 66, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Spartanburg Medical Center. A native of Newburgh, New York, he was the husband of Sainia J. Thompson and son of the late Charles Crumpler and Hannah R. Thompson.
Larry was a graduate of James O’Neil High School in New York. He earned a living as a truck driver and cared for children for the City of Greenville Social Services. He served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He frequently attended iLive Ministries in Spartanburg, SC.
Larry enjoyed music and over the years, he amassed a collection of various musical instruments. He also loved attending musical concerts and was known to be dressed as sharp as a tac whether attending a concert or an event of any kind. He always wanted to look his best.
He leaves precious memories to his wife, Sainia Thompson; bonus son, Charles Barton of Rock Hill, SC; daughters, Sade Thompson of Maryland and Deja Thompson of Spartanburg, SC; two step-grandchildren Cergio Barton and Ayva Barton; one brother “Bo” Thompson; and a host of other cousins, relatives, neighbors and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc., 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.
