LaVerne Jane Thompson

LaVerne Jane Thompson, 62, of 211 Willow Oaks Drive, Spartanburg, SC passed away Monday, morning, November 11, 2019 at her residence.  She was born on October 23, 1957 in Trenton, NJ.  She was the daughter of Earline Smith Thompson.  She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, attended Johnson C. Smith University, and was a former employee of the Department of Social Services.  She was preceded in death by a grandson, Theron Sterling Thompson, Jr. and a sister, Reverend Vara Merle Smith Burns.  She is survived by her mother, Earline Thompson of the home; two sons, Theron (Belita) Thompson of Atlanta, GA and David (Stephanie) Thompson, Sr. of Jacksonville, NC; two grandchildren, Bella Thompson and David Thompson, Jr.; one brother, Benjamin K. (Paulette) Thompson of Hartford, CT; two sisters, Marrion (Ronnie) Rice of Greenville, SC and Vivian (Eddy) Reinoso of Gaithersburg, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.  The family will receive friends at the home.  Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.
