Kay Young Obituary

Kay Frances Young was born on Friday, July 9, 1943, in Union County, South Carolina. She peacefully departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Ellen Sager Nursing Center in Union, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late Willie Glenn and Amanda Hammond Young. She was reared in the home of her adoptive mother, Rhoda Simuel Robinson of Kelton, SC.

Kay Frances was a proud member of the Sims High School Class of 1963. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where she served in numerous capacities throughout the years. She was also a member of the Bethlehem Order of Eastern Stars.

Known throughout the community for her caring spirit and dedication, Kay Frances worked for many years as a nursing assistant at the former Wallace Thomson Hospital before retiring after faithful service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Wayne Young; four brothers, Walter Young, James Young, Sr., Booker T. Glenn, and Paul Glenn; and three sisters, Alice Howard, Christine Giles, and Laura Young.

Kay Frances leaves to cherish her precious memories: one son, Terrance (Yvonne) Young; two daughters, Beverly (Eustace)  Duncan and Kimberly Young; daughter-in-law, Barbara Young; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul (Dora Ann) Young; two sisters, Lounell (Jessie) Levy and Willie Mae Garnett; her beloved godchildren, Darryl Jeter, Freeman Jeter, Ernestine Green, and Reverend Jannie Gist; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Among those mourning her passing is a special nephew, Walter Kevin Young, who was like a son to her. Kay Frances Young will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
