John Henry "Big John" Hooker, 81, of Union, SC, passed away on January 22, 2025, at Spartanburg Medical Center. A native of Union, SC, he was the husband of Patricia Cheek Hooker and son of late William Hooker and Ruth McMahan.
John was educated in Union County Public Schools. He was a member of Mount Rowell Baptist Church where he served as a trustee. He retired from the Union County Public School System.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Hooker.
Left to cherish precious and fond memories are his beloved wife of the home, Patricia Hooker; two daughters, Melissa Meadow (Anthony), and Tracie Robinson-Brown (Kendrick); two grandchildren, Kyle Littlejohn, Jabari Meadow; two great grandchildren, Denise Meadow and Roman McCarthy; two brothers, Martin Hooker and Clayton Hooker; one sister, Patricia Sims; god-daughter, Lillian Jones Wilson; and his best friend, Charles Sims; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, Inc., 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
