Jesse James Byrd

Jesse James Byrd, 71  passed Wednesday night, August 25, 2021 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. A native of Union County, SC, he was the son of the late Jesse James Hughes and the late Jessie Ruth Byrd.

He was retired from Spartanburg  District Seven School System and served in the United States Navy.  He was elected to serve District Five as a Council member for the Town of Pacolet.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arzolia Byrd and Willie B. Byrd.

He is survived by his son, Travis J. (Quenne) Byrd of Gaffney, SC; two grandchildren; one brother, Eddie D. (Frieda) Byrd of Spartanburg, SC; three sisters, Betty R. Byrd, Mahalia Byrd and Sandra Byrd all of Pacolet, SC; aunt, Joyce Hughes and a host of other relatives and friends. Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, Inc., 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC
