Mr. James Edward "Plug" Salter was born Sunday, August 6, 1950. A native of Pittsburgh, PA., James was born in Union, South Carolina and relocated to Pittsburgh, PA., at an early age.
A Life Well Spent...
James was educated in the public school system of Pittsburgh and graduated from Fifth Avenue High School in 1969. James later attended Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC). James worked in various positions ranging from Wilson Sporting Goods, Consolidated Natural Gas/Peoples Gas, LFS Corporate Services, Elteq Management, Inc., Cannon Business Process Services and lastly retiring from Ansaldo STS (formerly Union Switch and Signal).
"Salt" as he was affectionately known was a very caring and loving son, nephew, cousin, neighbor and friend. Although soft spoken, his demeanor commanded respect. "Salt" was a God-fearing man and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he was baptised in 2007. "Salt" sang with the Friends and Family Choir. "Salt" was actively involved in many church activities. "Salt" continued his passionate legacy of singing as he later sang with the St. Paul Choir at Point Breeze and Men of Faith. He was once a member of a local band. "Salt" was a connoisseur of music, a true family historian, an avid reader, a self-renowned chef, and he LOVED his Pittsburgh Steelers.

On Monday, March 27, 2023, James entered eternal rest at his residence.
James was preceded in death by his parents: Ernest Salter of Union, South Carolina and Bertha Mae Rice Salter of Pittsburg, PA and his brother Ernest Salter, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA.
Those Who Remain...
Mr. Salter is survived by numerous relatives both near and far who love and will miss him dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
