James Edward Johnson, husband of Katherine Dawkins “Kat” Johnson and the son of the Late George Johnson, Sr. and Johnnie Means Johnson, was born in Union, S.C. on August 16, 1946. He entered eternal rest on January 20, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Buffalo, S.C. where he served on the Ushers Board until his health failed. He attended Sims High School and retired from Sew Euro Drive in Lyman, S.C. after twenty-eight years of service. He was a member of Tamin Temple #155 and Widow’s Son Masonic Lodge #34. He enjoyed raising chickens and rabbits. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell Sartor, George Johnson Jr., and Charlie W. Johnson and one sister, Barbara Johnson Moorman. He leaves precious memories to his wife; a daughter, Rachella Renee Johnson of the home; a son, Jermaine Johnson of Union, SC; one granddaughter, Kierra McKenzie Johnson of Spartanburg, SC; three brothers, Lester “Pick” Johnson of Seneca, NY, Johnny Lee Johnson of Baltimore, MD, and Henry “Cotton Eye” Johnson of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Johnson of Spartanburg, SC, and Raymouth Dawkins of Union, SC; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth “Coon” Dawkins of Spartanburg, SC and Bernard “Dee” Dawkins of Union, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Saint Luke Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home. Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
