Mr. James Earl Jeter was born in Spartanburg County, SC, on March 7, 1944. He entered eternal rest on Friday night, May 8, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
He was the widower of the late Kay Frances Williams Jeter and the son of the late Henry Jeter and Amanda Free Jeter.
Mr. Jeter was a graduate of Fosters Grove High School in Spartanburg, SC, class of 1962. He was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. He was also a proud United States Army veteran. He was a member of Silver Lake Masonic Lodge #388. He retired from Wise Foods, where he worked for many years as a truck driver.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Jeter was preceded in death by two sons, James Anthony Jeter, and Corey Levar Jeter; four brothers, Daniel Jeter, Marvin Jeter, Johnny Jeter, and Paul Jeter; four sisters, Willie Mae Jeter, Irene Jeter Varner, Virginia Jeter Smith, and Pauline Jeter Hall.
Those who remain to cherish his loving memory include his daughter, Keisha Lesonn Jeter (Marcus Gist) of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren, Kenasia D. Floyd, Ethan LaShaun Floyd, Isaiah L. Floyd, Kalynn Porter, Anthony Cortez Jeter, and Jameisha K. Jeter, all of Spartanburg, SC; seven great-grandchildren, Ava, Anthony “CJ” Jr., and Ayla (along with their mother, Takia Powell), Korrie Mae, Aminna, Julian, and Ramyah; one sister, Judy Woodruff; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.
