Iola (Bechem) Jeter

Iola B. Jeter was born September 22, 1932 in Union County, SC.  She was a resident of Jonesville, SC and the daughter of the late Emma Jeter and Lawrence Beacham.  She was a housekeeping supervisor at Wilson World for many years.

Iola was the “Glue” of family and to many others.  She was a woman who had a heart of gold.  She loved her family and grandchildren.  Iola loved to dance and work her puzzle books.  She was a member of the Eastern Stars. She was loved by many.

On January 18, 2022, Iola gained her wings and entered into eternal rest.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Jeter; daughters, Cynthia Rice and Lillie Mae; four grandchildren, Thomas L.  Mitchell, Sr., Nastaisa Artison, Janiyah Artison, and Jerry Thompson, Jr.; two brothers-in-law, James Jeter and John Jeter, Jr.; and two sisters-in-law, Lillie Pearl Jeter and Martha Jeter.

Iola leaves to cherish fond memories to her six daughters,  Elizabeth Mitchell (Johnny) of Santuc, SC, Linda Smith of Jonesville, SC, Shirley Kershaw of Jonesville, SC, Rose Jeter (Jeffery) of Santuc, SC, Lillian Jeter of Jonesville, SC, and Lorita Smalley (Charles) of Boiling Springs, SC; two sons, James Smith of Jonesville, SC and Robert E. Jeter (Grace) of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters-in-law, Martha Beachem of Union, SC and Mae Ruth Jeter of Santuc, SC; a son-in-law, Franklin Rice of Jonesville, SC; five  brothers-in-law, Rice Jeter of Jonesville, SC, Aiken Jeter of Santuc, SC, Curtis Stewart of Union, SC, and Odell Stewart of Union, SC; twenty-six grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; nine great--great grandchildren, and a host of nieces,  nephews, and cousins.

Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, Inc., 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
