Homer Lee Parks

Mr. Homer Lee Parks, affectionately known as “Unc” and recently named himself “Lightning”, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, August 29, 2021.  Homer was born June 15, 1939 in Seneca, SC to the late Jonathan Allen McGowan and Lucille Parks McGowan Terry. At a young age Homer was adopted by his aunt, Lucille’s sister, the late Essie Parks Perry and her husband, R. B. Perry.  Homer was a high school graduate and a former employee of Poinsett Hotel and other local restaurants.  Homer was a devout Christian.  Homer was preceded in death by four brothers, James Parks, James McGowan, Edward Lee McGowan, and John McGowan and four sisters, Barbara McGowan Harris, Johnnie Mae McGowan (Parks) Clement Henderson – Beatrice Adams, and Addie Ruth Miller.  He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friend.  Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, Inc. 102 Marion Ave. Spartanburg, SC.
