Grace Hilda Fields "Tuddy" Clayton, 63, of Union, SC passed away Wednesday morning in Spartanburg Medical Center. A native of Washington, DC, she was the wife of George Edward Clayton, Sr. and the daughter of the late Luke Fields and Bertha Richard Fields. She was reared in the home of her aunt, Betty Rose Richard. Grace was a member of Saint Paul Baptist Church. She was a 1976 graduate of Union High School and York Technical College. She was a former employee of the Charles Lea Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Gloria Fields McBeth and a cousin reared in the home who was like a sister, Bessie Mae Richard. She is survived by one son, George (Mercedes) Clayton, Sr.; two daughters, Wakela Clayton Porter and Candice Clayton; a special niece, Josette Taneka "Neik" McBeth; a goddaughter, ZaKyah Walton; thirteen grandchildren; one brother, Jeffrey (Valerie) Richard; one sister, Jacquelyn (Gilliam) Smith; cousins who were reared in the home like brothers and sisters, Charles Richard, Reverend James W. Richard, Joann Richard, and Dorothy Richard Hunter; and two special friends, Mamie Walton and Lillie Mae Tucker; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2020 at Saint Paul Baptist Church. Bishop Tyra Parham will be the eulogist. The family will receive friends at the home. Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
