George Edward "Bub" Burgess

George Edward "Bub” Burgess, Jr. 68, of Gaffney, SC passed away Wednesday night, June 10, 2020 in Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.  Born in Spartanburg, SC and reared in Philadelphia, PA, he was the husband of Patria Shirlyn Norman Burgess of the home and son George Edward Burgess, Sr. and Louise Burgess.  George was of the Christian faith and attended various churches.  “Bub” was infatuated with the game of basketball and loved his hometown team the 76ers.  During his time in Philadelphia, amongst many things he was a professional painter.  He enjoyed painting cars as a hobby.  Bub was preceded in death by his father, George Burgess; his brother, Darryl Burgess; and his sister, Hester Dixon.  He is survived by his wife, Patria Burgess; his mother; four sons, Leon (Dawn) Burgess, Frankie Norman, Santrell Fuller, and Derrick Fuller; one daughter, Syreeta Rita Burgess; two brothers, Steven Burgess and David Burgess; seven sisters; Hattie Karaam, JoAnn Hay, Michelle Onyango, Mazie Morse, Linda Burgess, Elizabeth Burgess and Marlene Jackson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces and nephews.  He will be missed by all.   Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.
