Fred Lee Hughes, 77, of Pacolet, SC was born in Union County, SC on February 23, 1946. He entered eternal rest on February 17, 2024, in Spartanburg Medical Center. He was the husband of Edith Hill Hughes and son of the late Wallace and Daisy Mae Hughes Lott.
Fred was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and a member of the All-Male Choir. He was a 1964 graduate of Sims High School. He served his country in the United States Army and the South Carolina Army National Guard. He retired from Spartanburg Steel Products after forty-one years of service. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Clyde Hughes, Earl Lott, and Clarence Hughes and other relatives.
He leaves precious memories to his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Edith Hill Hughes; his children, Pamela Hughes of Pacolet, Kimberly McKnight (James), and Melissa Hughes of Spartanburg, SC; his grandchildren, Martise McKnight and Makayla Hughes; six brothers, Paul Lott, Robert Lott (Jackie), Doug Lott, Melvin Lott, Ronald Sims, and Michael (Anita) Sims; seven sisters, Viola Broadus, Annie McBeth, Pearl Crawford, Shirley Rice, Joyce Ann Barbour (Sylvester), Debra (Rodney) Frederick, and Robin (Rev. Kenneth) Murray; brother-in-law, James Porter; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Smith and Joyce Hughes; aunt, Viola Jones (Maurice); and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at 1570 Jerusalem Road, Pacolet, SC.
