Eric Jermaine Johnson, age 53, of Union, South Carolina, entered eternal rest on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Spartanburg Medical Center.
Born on August 5, 1971, Eric was the beloved son of the late George Edward Johnson Jr. and Ruby Lee Williams Johnson. A native of Union, SC, Eric was educated in the Union County School System and was a proud 1990 graduate of Union High School. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army for three years. He received the National Defense Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Qualification Badge (Hand Grenade) and the Marksman Qualification Badge (Rifle M-16).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Irene Johnson and David and Ruby Hall; sisters Irene Johnson Gory, Wanda Faye Johnson Young and Ruby Johnson Gore; and three brothers-in-law; William Broadus, Allen Young, and Harry Lee Gore Sr.
Eric was known for his quiet demeanor, sense of duty, and devotion to his family. These traits earned him the family designation of “The Maintenance Man”.
He leaves many precious memories to his brother Tony Johnson; three sisters, Juanita Broadus, Tammy Johnson, and Mona Smith. He shared a close bond with his extended family, and also leaves cherished memories with his special friend, Rosetta Thompson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Eric’s legacy of honor, service, and love for family will be celebrated on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Community Mortuary Chapel in Union, South Carolina.
Though he has departed from our physical presence, Eric’s strength and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends at 213 Keenan Oak Dr. apt B 102, Union, SC. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc., 361 Meansville Rd., Union, SC.
