Ellis "Red" Gregory

Ellis "Red" Gregory, 82, of 104 Mint Road, Jonesville, SC passed away Thursday morning, October 8, 2020 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Union County, SC, he was the widower of Viola Allen Gregory and the son of the late Robert Gregory, Sr. and Lizzie Moment  Gregory.  He was a former employee of Engineer Products and was educated in the Union County school system.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Gregory and Dewayne Gregory; one grandson, Jamarcus Dewayne Gregory; and three brothers, Robert Gregory, Jr., Theodore Gregory and Maurice Gregory.  Survivors include three sons, Ellis Earl (Judy) Gregory, Dennis (Wilhelmenia) Gregory and Timothy (Lisa) Gregory all of Jonesville, SC; six daughters, Teresa (Rickey) Murphy of Jonesville, SC, Lizzie (Charles) Jeter of Union, SC, Levonne Goode of Jonesville, SC, Jacqueline (Gary) Pollard of Atlanta, GA, Sharon (Anthony Ray) Smith of Jonesville, SC and Melissa Thompson of the home; fourteen grandchildren, Lashun Gregory, Jerrell, Gregory, Sharran Gregory, Catrina Jeter, Whitney Gregory, Yolanda Thompson, Kenyatta Jeter, Sierra Smith, Jamarcus Gregory, Rickey Murphy, Markese Gregory, Erica Pollard-Staton, Latoria Smith, Moriah Goode, and Tamaya Gregory; twelve great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; three brothers, Russell Gregory and Lee Earnest Gregory both of Jonesville, SC and Norris (Sally R.) Gregory of Greensboro, NC; two sisters, Lizzie Mae Smith and Cloriena (Grover) Smith both of Union, SC; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Gregory of Jonesville, SC; three brothers-in-law, Floyd Allen, Elmore Allen, and Lenwood Allen all of Union, SC; one aunt, Cevera Lipsey of Jonesville, SC; five  sisters-in-law, Nellie Shippy, Josephine Murphy, Shirley Allen, and Bernisteen Gregory all of Jonesville, SC and Nancy Gregory of Union, SC;  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Graveside service will be held Monday, October 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, 904 Pea Ridge Highway, Jonesville, SC.  The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Teresa Gregory Murphy, 1414 Sulphur  Springs Road, Jonesville, SC.  Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
