Dwight Mills, 66, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at his residence. 

Dwight “Stew” Mills, 66, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his residence. A native of Spartanburg, he was the widow of Barbara Pearson Mills and the son of Ruth Kearnes of Fairforest, SC.

Dwight was educated in Spartanburg School District Six and was a graduate of Dorman High School, class of 1976. He attended Paine College in Augusta, GA. He retired from Greenville Steel as a professional welder. His unparalleled work ethic and commitment to excellence shone through by inspiring those around him. After retirement, he cherished time at home enjoying Western movies and reading the newspaper. He loved his two children and two grandchildren dearly. He also loved sports and enjoyed reading, especially about athletes. His favorite football team was the Atlanta Falcons.

Dwight was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Horace and Altonia Mills; brother-in-law, Todd Moss; uncle, Ray Whitner; and niece Ariell Carr.

Dwight leaves precious and fond memories to his mother, Ruth Kearnes (Larry Prater); son, Dwight “Spugga” Pearson; daughter, LaWanda Gossett; grandchildren, Derion and Aariya; two brothers, Lemuel (Patricia) Moss, and Kent O’neil; eight sisters, Wanda (Benny) Drummond, Sandra Moss, Jacqueline (Kenneth) Dominick, Sylvia Cohen, Sheila Kerns, Anitra (Brandon) Carr, Elaine Thompson, Sandra Shelby; aunts, Agnes Mays, Adna Mills, Creola Mills, Nettie Whitner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends all whom will miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends at 351-B Frey Circle, Spartanburg, SC.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.
