Dwight Fitzgerald Haney was born on June 26, 1971, in Lancaster, California, to Sgt. Harold Dwight Haney and Gwendolyn Sarah (Wilkins) Haney. He passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2025.
In 1977, the Haney family moved to Sacramento, where Dwight—affectionately known as Boobie—built lifelong friendships and touched countless lives. To know him was truly to love him.
Boobie attended Grant High School, where he played football and began a lifelong love for the game. A devoted 49ers fan, he proudly held season tickets and could always be found on Sundays cheering for his team, grilling, and enjoying good company—sometimes with a drink in hand.
Of all the joys in his life, nothing compared to the time he spent with his beloved grandchildren, MJ and Aitamei.
Boobie is survived by his mother, Gwendolyn; brothers Desmond, Eric, and Seth; children Markeysse, Amaya, and Sanaa; and grandchildren Markeysse Jr. (MJ) and Aitamei. Countless friends and loved ones whose lives were brightened by his presence and who will miss him deeply.
A funeral service celebrating Boobie’s life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 PM at Affordable Cremation and Funeral Center in Sacramento, California. A repast will follow at 1442 Del Paso Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95815.
A second funeral service will be held in Spartanburg, SC. Details of service listed below. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc., 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.
