Derrick Jermaine Boyd

Derrick Jermaine Boyd of Whitmire, SC, entered into eternal rest on Thursday afternoon, April 6, 2023, at Union Medical Center.

 A native of Whitmire, SC, he was the husband of Kelli Owens Boyd and the son of the late T J Alphonso Boyd and the late Cassie Mae Boyd.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Reginald “Crock” Boyd and his mother -in-law, Shirley O. Epps.

He was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. He was the dedicated owner of Boyd’s Lawncare. Derrick was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins/Football Team/Commanders. He was a member of McBeth Baptist Church. He was employed with BMW Manufacturing as an Assembly Production Associate since 2001. He was also a 1993 graduate of Union High School.

He leaves precious memories to his wife of twenty-one years, Kelli Owens Boyd; one daughter, Jazmyne Boyd and one son, JaQuan Boyd who both affectionately called him “DaDa”; one grandson, Jayce Boyd, who affectionately called him “Poppy”; six sisters, Gloria Hunter, Marsha Booker, Sylvia (Kenneth) Whitener, Laymuis Boyd (Dwight) Brown, Kimberly Boyd (Jerome Eison), Susan Boyd; three brothers, James (Linda) Boyd, Ronald (Shirley) Boyd, Terrell Tucker; father-in-law, John Epps, Sr.; special niece, Stacy Henderson; special nephews, Quincy Jeter, Jeffrey Whitener, and D. J. Boyd; sisters-in-law, Kimberly Owens (James) Crosby, Sylvia Epps, Denise Epps, and Markeda Epps; brothers-in-law, Kevin Lindsey, John Epps, Sr., Craig Stewart, and Donyal Epps; special friends, Ronnie Garner, Dennis Davis, Mark Boyd, and Albert Whitener; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at 140 Lee Cemetery Road Whitmire, SC. Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, Union.
