Jimmie Peake, Sr., 77, of Union, SC, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Union Medical Center. A native of Union, he was the husband of Barbara Jean Farr Peake, and son of both the late James and Delilah Pruitt Peake.
Mr. Peake was a 1964 graduate of Sims High School where he was an enthusiastic member of the marching band and played the trumpet. He attended Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Fl.
Mr. Peake was a faithful member of St. Luke Baptist Church, Buffalo, SC where he served as Chairman of the deacon ministry. He was active in his community having served as coach of the Conso and Lukesville Women’s softball team.
He worked for many years in the local textile industry, having worked at Buffalo Mill, Conso, and Gillespie. In 2004, he retired from Cone Mill Carlisle Finishing Plant after many years of dedicated service.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Wilbert Thomas and Rev. George Bobby Peake, and five sisters, Pauline Elizabeth Peake, Thelma Bartley, Caroline “Peggy” Smith, Sarah Margaret Peake, and Annie Louise Peake.
Survivors include, his wife, Barbara Peake of the home; two sons, Duane (Lacretia) Peake and Reverend Jimmie (Dayotra) Peake, Jr.; one daughter, Arnethette (Bennie) Kershaw, Sr.; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Ryan Peake and Howard “Billy” (Mary) Peake; brother-in-law, Reverend James (Dorothy) Farr; sisters-in-law, Jestine Williams, Betty Farr, and Judy Farr; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc., Union, SC.
