Daunte' Scott "Tete" Gist

Daunté Scott Gist, of Union, SC, was born on Monday, July 29, 2002. He passed away Tuesday night, September 30, 2025, at the age of twenty-three. A native of Union, SC, he was the son of Kimberly Dawn Hopkins and Gregory Scott Gist.

He attended Union High School where many knew him as “Tete.” He enjoyed fishing, cutting grass, and any activity outdoors in nature.

Daunté was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ella Mae Gist; maternal grandfather, Kenneth Hopkins, and uncle, Marvin D. Gist, Jr.

He leaves precious memories to his daughter, Tayla Gist; mother, Kimberly Hopkins; father, Gregory Gist; brother, Damien Mitchell; sister, Damija Gist; maternal grandmother Mary I. Morgan; paternal grandfather, Marvin D. Gist, Sr. (Sundres); a special great-aunt, Jennifer Gist; two special cousins, Jacob Marler, and Terrence (Dysheka) Curenton; uncle, Richard (Sarah) Burkes; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends at 218 South Mountain Street, Union, SC. Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
