In the stillness of the day on October 20, 2025, Ms. Creola Mills departed this life to join her Heavenly Father and the loved ones who have gone before her. She was the daughter of the late Deacon Horace Mills and Deaconess Altonia Davis Mills.
At an early age, Creola attended First Baptist Church of Fairforest in Spartanburg, SC. She attended Lincoln High School in Fairforest, SC, graduating in 1956.
In addition to her parents, Creola was preceded in death by her fiancé Earl Shelton; two sisters, Agnes Mays, Alice Mills; three nephews, Dwight Mills, Mark Mays, and Freddie Mills Mays; two nieces, Toronda Roebuck Clarke, and Ariell Carr; two brothers- in-law, Rossie Mays, and Ray Whitner.
While in pursuit of a better life, she moved to New York. She worked in the hospitality industry. Upon working in that industry, she exceled to Executive Hotel Housekeeper. She retired from the Salisberry Hotel.
Creola lived an exciting life in New York. Her fiancé Earl Shelton a musician with the Fat Back Band exposed her to the life of music entertainment. During those years she mingled with many entertainers.
Creola leaves to cherish loving memories; sisters, Edna Morant Ruth Mills Kernes, Nettie Mills Whitner; nieces, Reba Stewart, Wanda Drummond, Stephanie Wilkins, Sandra Moss, Sylvia Cohen, Shelia Kernes, Anitra Carr, Jacqueline Dominick, and Tameka Elliott; nephews, Gary Riveria, Steve Mills, Sr.; and a host of other relatives.
