Christine "Pepsi" (Hearst) Byrd

Christine Hearst Byrd, 71, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Magnolia Manor of Spartanburg, SC. A native of Spartanburg County, she was the widow of Roosevelt Byrd and daughter of the late Perry Hearst, Sr., and Naomi Irene Clark Hearst.

Christine graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1971. She was a Ward Secretary for many years at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. She was later employed as a Meter Reader at the Spartanburg Housing Authority and retired from there after years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of Harrison Grove Baptist Church until her health began to decline.

In addition to her husband and parents, Christine is preceded in death by two brothers, David Hearst, Sr. and Perry Hearst, Jr. and one sister, Patricia Pearson.

Left to cherish fond and precious memories are one son, Matthew Casey Teamer; step-son, Reverend Aaron Elmore;  three sisters, Geraldine (Paul Foster) Wynn, Terry (Tony Rogers) Doggett, and Tina (Garland) Chappell, all of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Byrd and Porsha Hearst; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc., 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.
