Mrs. Cevera Gregory Lipsey was born in the Jonesville community of Union County, SC, on Saturday, March 22, 1924. She peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday afternoon, October 29, 2024, at her residence. She was the widow of Deacon Andrew W. Lipsey, Sr., and daughter of the late Arthur Gregory, Sr., and Lizzie Gist Gregory. Mrs. Lipsey was educated in the public schools of Union County. She was a retired supervisor with the Fairfax County, VA school system. She was a longtime and faithful member of Mark Hill Baptist Church where she played the piano and sang in the choir. She also served as an usher and trustee. She was a member of the Pacolet River Baptist Association Women’ s Missionary Ministry. She supported the work of the Association by giving unselfishly of her time, talent, resources, and finances. She championed equality and civil rights and promoted the cause of others. She was a Life Member and loyal supporter of the Union County Branch of the NAACP. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Marvin Gregory, Arthur Gregory, Jr., Velver Gregory, Robert Gregory, and Gettys Gregory and four sisters, Mary Glenn, Lisa Lovett, Azalee Gregory, and Christana Gregory. Left to cherish fond memories are one son, Jimmie Gregory; one grandson, Joseph Mathias Gregory; an adopted daughter and caregiver, Shelia McNeil; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and Christian friendsThe family will receive friends at 205 Mamie Gault Rd., Joneseville, SC.
