Bobby Gray, 64, of Union, SC, was born on August 23, 1960. He departed this earthly life on February 27, 2025. A native of Union County, he was husband of Marie Ann Jeter Gray, and son of the late Colie James Gray, Jr., and Josephine Johnson Gray.
Bobby was affectionately known as “Traveler” to many. He was a graduate of Union High School. He honorably served in the United States Army. Bobby earned an associate’s degree at Spartanburg Methodist College. Upon graduation, he worked in the security field for thirty-eight years. He was employed as a security agent at Signal 88 Security of Greenville, SC. He loved stimulating conversations and never met a stranger. The conversations would be about God, in which he often stated he “was called to be a teacher, not a preacher.” He enjoyed cooking, grilling, being outside in nature and traveling. His favorite place to visit was Washington, DC. He loved being around his family.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by four sisters, Barbara Jean Jones, Nancy Jeter, Shirley Hunter, Debra Gray; two brothers, Colie James Gray II, and Darrel Gray, and all his maternal and paternal aunts and uncles.
Bobby leaves to cherish fond memories to his wife of forty-two years, Marie Gray; two sons, Jurvae M.X. Gray, and Jahmaree K. M. Gray; one brother; Robert Lee Gray; one sister, Mary Joanne Gray-Hall; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gray, and Carolyn Gray; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, coworkers, and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc., 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
