Betty Ann Wilkes Simpson, 73, of Pacolet, SC passed away on Friday afternoon, June 27, 2025 at her residence. A native of Union, SC, she was the widow of Leonard Smith, Sr. and daughter of the late Furman Wilkes, Sr., and Annie Bell Barnett Wilkes.
Betty graduated from Benjamin E. Mayes High School in Pacolet, SC, class of 1970. Prior to relocating to her hometown, she worked for many years as a bus driver for New Jersey City.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty is preceded in eternal rest by four brothers; Furman Wilkes, Jr., Bobby Wilkes, Jesse Wilkes, and James Wilkes.
Left to cherish fond and precious memories are her son; Leonard (Tameshia) Smith, Jr.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Robert Wilkes, Eugene (Alice) Wilkes, and Harold (Shirley) Wilkes; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends at 420 W. Main Street, Apt 1-11, Pacolet, SC. Arrangements have been entrusted with Community Mortuary, Inc., 102 Marion Ave, Spartanburg, SC.
