Betty Jean Simpson was born in Spartanburg, SC, on February 5, 1952, to the late Crawford Lee Dogan and Mary Nell Simpson. She attended the public schools of Spartanburg County. Betty was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and sung on the choir until her health began to fail. She was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Chapter 32- Electra.
Betty worked at Spartan Mills and attended Spartanburg Methodist College where she received her CNA license. She never met a stranger and was always positive and uplifting. She loved her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world. Even when she was not feeling well, she would do her best to help and take care of others. On Friday, May 10, 2024, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Care, she entered eternal rest at the age of 72.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her three children; Brian “Keyball” Simpson, Glennis “Glenn” Simpson and Andre’ “Chopp” Simpson.
Betty leaves to cherish many fond memories her husband of forty-six years, Dennis Walker; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one brother, Freddie Simpson; one sister, Mary Lyles Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
