Albert James Cothran, 65, of Matthews, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Jasper Cothran, Sr., and Ada Mae Thomas Simpson.
Albert graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1977. He furthered his education at East Tennessee State University. He later transferred to the University of Southern California and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree. He worked as a recording engineer in the music industry in Los Angeles, California. His Christian journey began at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC.
Albert leaves cherished memories to one son, Alja (Temekia) Cothran Cardin; one daughter, Myrika Gary; three grandchildren, Keyvon, Alja, and Miracle; one brother, Jasper (Margaret) Cothran; one sister, Jacqueline Cothran; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Arrangements are in the care of Community Mortuary, Inc., 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.
