Nancy Louise Dawkins Jeter, 99, of 118 Gary Road, Carlisle, SC passed Sunday afternoon, August 4, 2019 in Spartanburg Medical Center. A native of Newberry County, SC, she was the widow of Reuben L. Jeter, Sr. and the daughter of the late Moses Dawkins and Carrie Hawkins Dawkins. She was the oldest member and Mother of Jeter Chapel AME Church. She served faithful in her attendance and service and genuinely loved singing in the choir. She was the oldest member of the Senior Choir. She was the oldest member of Bright Star #245 Order of the Eastern Star and oldest member of the Women's Aide Society #83. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Woodrow Jeter; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Leroy Dawkins, Tony Dawkins, and Yancey Dawkins; and two sisters, Elizabeth Kincade and Hattie Henderson. She is survived by two sons, Reuben Jeter, Jr. of Union, SC and Robert Lee Jeter of Woonsocket, RI; three daughters, Annie Williamson of Carlisle, SC, Mary Tucker (Albert) of Carlisle, SC, and Elexa (Tony) Good of Carlisle, SC; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Jeter; seventeen grandchildren, seven of whom were reared in the home, Elaine Monroe, Clarence Jeter, Anna Jeter, Veronica Jeter, Ron Williamson, Terrell Tucker, and Reggie Tucker; thirty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Al Dawkins of Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Bernice Carwile of Greenville, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Jeter Chapel AME Church with burial in the church cemetery. OES rites will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2019 at the mortuary. The family will receive friends at the home. Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
