John Kennedy “Big Guy” Savage of Essex, Maryland was born on November 22, 1963 in Union. SC to the late Colean Glenn Savage and George Savage. He was adopted by Deaver & Cleo Savage. John departed this life on September 16, 2019. He was educated in the public schools of Union County, graduating from Union High School class of “82”. He relocated to the Maryland – DC metropolitan area in 1997, leaving DC, transitioning to Glen Burnie and then Essex, MD. John was a commercial truck driver for twenty-five plus years including working for Giant Food Truck #703. He completed his road assignment with R & L Carriers where he was employed for ten plus years. John love God, his family and his career as a truck driver. John was a member of Always House of Prayer in Aberdeen, MD and when the Lord called his brother-law into ministry, John and his family joined Faith Deliverance Watchman Ministries in Belcamp, MD. John was interested in his spiritual assignment and glad to be involved in weekly bible studies. John was preceded in death by his parents, Corlean Glenn and George Savage; adoptive parents, Deaver and Cleo Savage; brother, Charlie Savage; and sisters, Clara Hughes and Melvelyn Johnson. John leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Bernadette Singleton Savage; three sons, Joshua Savage of Spartanburg, SC, John Savage, II of Glen Burnie, MD, and Victor Vaughan of Essex, MD; three grandchildren, Tee’Adrea Feaster, John Savage, III, and Kamryn Vaughan; one, godson, Ethan Williams; one, brother, Sylvester Savage of WV; six sisters, Sarah Stewart Savage (Stanley Jeter), Joyce Ann Savage (Terry Harris), Deloris Savage, Juanita Hill (Melvin Hill) all of Union SC, Diane Savage of Carlisle, SC, and Shirley Lewis of Charlotte, NC; mother-in-law, Martha Gardner; one sister-in-law, Tracy (Carl) McLane of Belcamp, MD; eight uncles, Haywood Glenn (Trina), Julius Glenn (Helen), John Glenn, Willie Ferguson, Ernest (Grace) Singleton of Baltimore, MD, Calvin (Linda) Ferguson, Charlie (Ann) Singleton, Joseph Singleton of Sumter, SC; seven aunts, Johnsie Brown, Annie (Lee) Davis, Minnie Ferguson, Susie (Tommie) Miller, Rosa (Carl) Hunter, Geneva (Peter) Davis all of (Sumter, SC, Barbara (Oliver) King of Hillside NJ; and a dear friend, Roland Hughes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at McBeth Baptist Church with burial in the Saint Luke AME Zion Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Sarah Stewart, 401 West Hillcrest Avenue, Union, SC. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc., 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
